Presenter: Brigitta Baumert

About the Presenter:
Brigitta G. Baumert, MD, PhD, is a staff member in the Department of Radiation Oncology (MAASTRO clinic) at the University Hospital Maastricht in The Netherlands. Dr. Baumert earned her Medical Degree at Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat, Freiburg, Germany. She trained in radiation oncology in Zurich, Switzerland. For her specialization in neuro-oncology and stereotactic radiotherapy, she later spent time as a research fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England. B. Baumert is an active investigator in the area of stereotactic radiotherapy and neuro-oncology. She is the principal investigator of the EORTC joint trial with the ROG, BTG, MRC, TROG and NCI-Canada on the treatment of patients with a low-grade glioma and co-investigator for the joint EORTC trial with the EORTC-BTG/-ROG, RTOG, MRC-CTU, NCIC-CTG, COGNO on concurrent and adjuvant Temozolomide chemotherapy in NON-1p/19q deleted anaplastic glioma. Since June 2009 she is the secretary of the EORTC Brain Tumour Group. Other areas of interest are technical developments such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy and new diagnostic imaging tools (eg. PET-CT, fMRI) and research on radiosensitizers/targeted drugs added to radiotherapy in brain tumors.
